Ned Vaughan Freeman had moved back to New York City from Colorado when he was introduced by a mutual friend, Amanda Samponaro, to Elizabeth Scudder Kelly at a birthday party in 2005. The two hit it off when Elizabeth told him that he resembled either the lead singer from the band Weezer or Spiderman. Four years later, Ned proposed over the Fourth of July at the fireworks at the Apawamis Club in Rye, New York. The second the first firework went off, Ned asked Elizabeth to marry him, and she said yes.
The Reverend Joan Priest officiated at the ceremony at the First Presbyterian Church of Greenwich. A reception followed at Indian Harbor Yacht Club, where the grandfather of the bride made a poignant toast, and guests were asked to leave a piece of advice that the newlyweds could take with them throughout their marriage.
The bride, daughter of Susan Dubin of Greenwich, and Harry Kelly of Tampa, Florida, is also the stepdaughter of Cherie Foster and Ron Dubin. She graduated from the Westminster School and Kenyon College. Elizabeth is in marketing with Octagon in Norwalk, Connecticut.
The groom, son of Margo and Bob Freeman of Rye, New York, graduated from Brunswick School and the University of Colorado, Boulder. He is studying for his MBA at the University of Denver and expects to graduate in 2012.
Following a honeymoon throughout Italy, Mr. and Mrs. Freeman returned home to Denver.
