When Kinsey Cruice and Evan Kornak met at Darden School of Business at the University of Virginia in 2010, they learned they had both spent summers on Nantucket and had many friends in common. Yet somehow they had never crossed paths. A year later, Kinsey and Evan were on another island, Jupiter Island in Florida, when they got engaged.
Evan was staying with the Cruice family in Hobe Sound to celebrate the New Year when he coaxed Kinsey away from a late-night gathering of old friends by complaining about a fake illness. As they walked out into the night so that Evan could get some fresh air, he realized that his idea to take her to the boat dock wasn’t going to work. The couple then headed toward the golf course, only to be stopped by friends who were worried about Evan. The friends quickly realized what was happening and left the couple alone.
Kinsey and Evan were married at Christ Memorial Chapel on Jupiter Island and the reception was at the Jupiter Island Beach Club. Kinsey surprised Evan with a groom’s cake in the shape of his favorite class of sailboat.
The bride is the daughter of Valerie and Jay Cruice Jr. of Darien. A graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges, Kinsey holds a bachelor’s degree in public policy and a master’s degree in business administration from Darden. She works as a business research analyst at Fidelity Investments in Boston.
The groom is the son of Margaret and Dr. Fulton Christopher Kornack of Dover, Massachusetts. Evan graduated from Bates College with a bachelor’s degree in economics and holds a master’s from Darden. He’s a senior associate at Data Point Capital in Boston, where the couple now live.
