Marion Mercedes Ewing and Edward Scott Roe

Marion and Scott first met at an evening beach party on Nantucket. They became friends and dated causally over the summer, but it wasn’t until they crossed paths four years later in Boston that they began dating seriously. Three years into their courtship, on a cold January Boston night while strolling down Commonwealth Avenue, Scott stopped to tie his shoe, but really got down on one knee and proposed.

The bride’s brother, John Ewing, officiated at the ceremony at the Castle Hill Inn in Newport, where the reception followed. After watching the wedding video, the couple noticed that a seagull flew over them as they were saying their vows. This was significant since Marion’s father died suddenly a few years back and has since manifested as a seagull in her life; the couple truly feel that he was there watching over them.
