Looking for something fun do this summer? The second annual Pork in the Park BBQ Festival is just around the corner. The festival—which serves as a fundraiser for the Mayor's Youth Employment Program and the Mill River Collaborative, taking place Saturday, July 12 through Sunday July 13, is all about great food, music, and entertainment. It doesn’t get any better than this folks!
“It’s two days of family-friendly fun in the heart of Stamford,” said Nia Rhodes Jackson, Director of Programs at Mill River Collaborative. The organization is committed to creating and sustaining the Mill River Park and Greenway for the Stamford community.
Located at the Mill River Park, festival-goers can munch on a variety of delicious foods from some of Stamford’s most delicious restaurants, including sponsor Bar-Q, who’s known for its authentic pit-smoked BBQ and mouthwatering American fare.
Other vendors include Bartaco, Volta, Fryborg, Rory’s and more. Wait — there’s even more finger-licking fun at the People’s Choice Competition, where BBQ competitors battle it out for the best wings and ribs.
Rhodes Jackson noted, “We want families to enjoy local food, learn from the experts, and hopefully go home to create something for their family."
After you’ve had enough grub, burn off some calories dancing to live music, courtesy of Terrapin, Freeride and Snooty Garland. Or join the kids in the Kid Kanyon, a fun attraction for kids of all ages. Ride the mechanical bull, zip through the obstacle course, or compete with your friends in Rock 'em Sock 'em ring.
Grab your friends and join the folks at Mill River Park for a great cause. Trust us, you don’t miss this year’s Pork in the Park BBQ Festival—its guaranteed to be a good time!
Cost: $10.00 for adult, $5.00 for kids, and free for children under the age of five if tickets are purchased on Saturday, July 12th 2014.
