Though many of us may recently find ourselves cringing at back-to-school commercials, summer is not over just yet. The beach bum days with books in hand, the Saturdays spent swimming, and of course, the ability to answer the question “Would you like to eat your meal inside or outside?” are all still up for grabs – and Stamford’s Restaurant Weeks are providing a delectable send-off for the best season for outdoor dining. From August 18 until September 1, over 30 restaurants in Stamford will be offering special prefixed menus to pamper that summer palette. From pub hubs to Latin American bistros, the array of lunch and dinner dishes are sure to appeal to taste buds of all types – even for the pickiest of eaters!
1. The Largest Restaurant Week in CT
Fortunately, Restaurant Weeks are nothing new to Fairfield County. After Stamford’s eatery event, Fairfield (Oct. 5-11), Westport, and Weston (Oct. 6-13) will follow suit. However, be sure to stop by Stamford’s, as it is the Restaurant Week with the most participating places to eat. “We are thrilled that with 34 participating restaurants, Restaurant Week in Stamford Downtown continues to be the largest Restaurant Week in Connecticut!” said Jacqueline Wetenhall, Stamford’s Director of Retail Development at the Downtown Special Services District.
2. Kick Off Event at Verano
Stamford Downtown and RMS Companies are pairing up for a rooftop cocktail party (probably the best three words used together in a sentence ever) at The Verano on August 19 from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Participating restaurants will be showcasing new signature summer cocktails at this event and throughout the Restaurant Weeks. The only thing that makes this more awesome are the door prize giveaways, so be sure to RSVP Cheryl Farley at [email protected] by August 12 to secure your spot.
3. Eight Best of the Gold Coast Winners
Missed out on the freebies and grab bag goodies at this year’s Best of the Gold Coast bash? Treat yourself to the very best (for a little less) during Stamford’s Restaurant Week, which (deservedly) boasts eight of this year’s Best of the Gold Coast winners. These include Tengda Asian Bistro (Best Asian Fusion/Sushi), Barcelona Restaurant & Wine Bar (Best Tapas Menu), The Capital Grille (Best Steaks), Hudson Grille (Best Singles Scene For Those Under 35), Napa & Co. (Best Wine Bar and Wine List), Kona Grill (Best Happy Hour), Cask Republic (Best Specialty Beer), and EOS Greek Cuisine (Best Greek Restaurant).
4. Instagram-Worthy Desserts
No wonder they call it a “Home Feed.” When you head out for the night to get your grub on, be sure to keep your friends in the know (and green with envy) about the fantastic dishes you’ll be downing. Sam’s American Bistro will be sporting a s’mores ice cream sandwich and a lemon-blackberry cheesecake parfait, both of which can be selected as a third course for lunch ($12.14) or dinner ($20.14). And EOS’s Ekmek Kataifi, which is a fancy way of saying “shredded dough” with syrup and vanilla pudding, topped with whipped cream, almonds, and cinnamon, is also a sweet way to end a $20.14 lunch or $30.14 dinner – hashtag #nofilter.

5. Far More Than a Meal
Many of Stamford’s exquisite dish dives feature much more than food. In addition to its Restaurant Week offer of one of their signature hot sandwiches or crisp salads, a beverage, and dessert for only $10.14 (try the spicy Chicken Florentine), Franklin Street Works Café also includes three art galleries, making it a contemporary art mecca and hangout space that is open to the public.
6. “Yes, you can bring the kids.”
Save that babysitter money for another week, and give the kids a taste of culture. Stamford Downtown is teaming up with Stamford Hospital to promote healthy eating and an active lifestyle with the KIDS’ FANS 5-2-1-0 program. As a result, all children under 12 will be offered lunch for $6.96 and dinner for $9.95 at all of the restaurants featured in Stamford Restaurant Week.
7. Fast Food Done Right
No matter how many tea candles glitter on the darling tablecloths, there is always the temptation to order that basic burger or familiar pizza slice. Stamford’s Restaurant Week gives you endless opportunities to revamp your “usual.” Napa & Co.’s $20.14 lunch and $30.14 dinner menus feature the Napa burger, which is served on a brioche roll and topped with onion jam, aged gouda, and black pepper mayo; the Rosemary fries on the side will really pack a flavorful punch. Villa Italia Ristorante will feature a pear gorgonzola brick oven pizza appetizer as a first course for the same price pairing.
8. Three Glorious Words: “Le Prix Fixe”
