Global Charm

Creative sparks are flying above Greenwich Avenue at the new Asha Penthouse, a chic atelier and showroom where Ashley Dodgen-McCormick and her team are turning out new collections inspired by travel, art, architecture and family. In fact, the latest line of this jewelry and lifestyle brand will be geared for younger girls, and it was first conceived by Ashley’s five-year-old daughter, Annabel. “A charm came in a tiny size by accident and my daughter happened to be here and said, ‘Why don’t we make this Little Asha?’” Ashley recalls. “We looked at each other and said, ‘I think she’s onto something.’”

The new Little Asha pieces with mini charms will be out in time for Mother’s Day and they’re designed to coordinate with other Asha jewelry—perfect for layering. “We are a multigenerational company with my mom (Mayling) being part of the business, and we’re also creating jewelry that appeals to women of all ages,” says Ashley, who grew up in town and attended Greenwich Academy before heading to Georgetown and La Sorbonne. Also newer for Asha: the fine jewelry and bespoke collections with 18K gold charm bracelets, necklaces and other personal pieces, such as the custom engraved signet rings initially launched at Bergdorf Goodman.

Clients can visit the Penthouse to work closely with Ashley to describe their wishes for a unique piece, and she will create one-of-a-kind jewelry such as charms with children’s birthdates in Roman numerals or a ring with a family’s Byzantine crest. Asha’s popular bags are available here too. The Havana sold out before it even went into production, due in part to Ashley’s lively Instagram from her time in Cuba, and now the Gustavia has been in such demand that a larger beach tote is in the works.

What’s next? Watch for the Zanzibar via Paris collection and one influenced by a journey to India that may include jeweled clutches.
