After being introduced by a mutual friend, Rich and Elizabeth agreed to a date. During the outing, a stranger approached the two, noting that Rich definitely liked Elizabeth. The couple pretended they had been dating for years and got a good laugh out of the situation. Rich lived in Boston at the time, so the two parted ways, but it wasn’t long before they reconnected and started dating long distance. Five years later, as they strolled along Fairfield Beach, Rich proposed.
Although the couple contemplated a destination wedding, they knew Fairfield was the perfect locale because of their strong ties to the town. The wedding ceremony took place at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Fairfield. Father Christopher Samele officiated the ceremony, which was followed with a reception at the Brooklawn Country Club.
The bride is the daughter of Sandra and Neal Fitzpatrick of Fairfield. She received her bachelor’s degree in English from Saint Joseph’s University and her master’s degree in elementary education from Fairfield University. She works in sales at Melissa & Doug in Wilton. The groom is the son of Richard Burt of Freedom, New Hampshire, and the late Patricia Burt. He holds a bachelor’s degree in information systems from Fairfield University. He works at OppenheimerFunds in New York City as an investment consultant.
The couple honeymooned in Hawai’i before returning home to Darien.
