Seven Months to Summer

As the leaves fall and you recall a summer of heartwarming memories in the back yard—by the pool, in the garden, under the shade of a favorite tree—a local landscape firm is making a good memory of its own. Hoffman Landscapes just won gold. Specifically, it took this year’s Gold Award of Excellence, the highest honor from the National Association of Landscape Professionals (NALP), which honors landscape, lawn care and interior plantscape design projects across the country. One look at the project is all the proof you’ll need to see why they earned the distinction; the outdoor space is a dream.

The project, designed by landscape architect Matthew Biron, included clearing and leveling the original space; designing, building and installing a custom freeform pool; and outfitting the space with multilevel terraces, firepit and outdoor shower, all accented and framed with lush plantings and natural stone. The waterfall flows from spa to pool, and it offers a soothing sound of cascading water. Additionally, this natural escape comes complete with subtle lighting features and an outdoor audio system. In total, the new space is prepped to help the homeowners soak in a full season’s worth of outdoor living and beautiful views year-round.

The homeowners knew that a handsome pool is one of the best ways to both escape life’s routine demands as well as serve as an irresistible social magnet. “We purchased our house with the plan to install a pool that would be a draw for family and friends,” they note, adding that it was a complete success. “Matt Biron created an outdoor space for us that is much more than we imagined was possible.”

Clearly, the creative pros at Hoffman are popping the Champagne and celebrating the big win. “We’re honored to be selected by our peers in the industry through the nation’s top landscape organization,” says the company’s president, Mike Hoffman. Hoffman Landscapes, based in Wilton, has been transforming area properties for more than thirty years. It specializes in landscape architecture and outdoor construction as well as property maintenance for lawns, planting beds, gardens, trees and shrubs in Fairfield, Litchfield and Westchester counties.

The firm will be keeping tabs on this installation, their golden child. “Our team not only designed and constructed this project, but our maintenance department continues to care for the grounds. The homeowners have expressed interest in doing additional work in the future, so we look forward to seeing the property evolve!”

Warm weather will be here before you know it, and this local couple is all set—just add outdoor throw pillows and lemonade.
