Five features our market editor is most excited about in the new Nordstrom store (and you should be too)
It’s impossible to avoid the expansive shoe department and even harder to resist trying on a pair (or five) from the tables of Louboutin heels and Golden Goose sneakers. But there’s nothing that’ll kill your Cinderella experience faster than realizing you’re way overdue for a pedicure. Enter Base Coat Nail Salon, with on-site services for all your nail needs. In keeping with the store’s focus on beauty and wellness, the products and polishes are plant-based and mostly chemical free. You’ll be one appointment away from having sandal-ready feet without ever leaving the building.
As a mom with three young kids, I am all too familiar with the glorious convenience of drive-thru. But there are limitations to what a person can get done without ever leaving their car—until now. Curbside order pickup (three magical words) will be available through the Nordstrom app and something I’ll be utilizing when I can’t escape for the rare but indulgent experience of shopping sans children. There’s also the option to have online orders ready for pickup within an hour of checkout. Just think of all the cart-filling opportunities I’ll have between my regularly-scheduled chauffeur duties.
IN THE BAG
Accessory lovers, rejoice. Nordstrom has dedicated a large portion of it’s first floor to handbags, including in-store boutiques displaying the latest from Chloé, Givenchy, Longchamp and my current favorite, Mansur Gavriel. The New York brand’s latest collection of leather bucket bags and totes come in a playful palette of reds, blues and greens. Sitting pretty on pink shelves, they’re the perfect pops of color to brighten up your winter wardrobe.
SHOP TO IT
Nordstrom knows clothes and this women’s floor does not disappoint. Party picks from Saloni and Cinq à Sept sit alongside closet staples by Jenni Kayne and rag & bone while high-end designer collections like Carolina Herrera and Lela Rose are mixed among a serious selection of denim, dresses and separates. There’s truly something for everyone, even mannequins that reflect the range of sizes in real women. And for anyone overwhelmed by all the options, complimentary styling services are available.
After an exhausting day of shopping and treating yourself to beauty treatments, you’ll be ready for a drink. And with a quick trip to the third floor, you’ll be able to find said drink at Bazille, where the cocktails are handcrafted and the wine will be waiting. Sure, the bistro also boasts a full menu of freshly-made food, but I’m very much looking forward to pairing my new Nordstrom purchases with a celebratory glass of red.
