Lorca had just renovated the Stamford location of their popular coffee shop, by bumping out the walls for more space. But then it had to close down. It was a disappointing moment that its loyal patrons couldn’t clink coffee mugs with the owners to celebrate the ambitious renovation together. Like other independently owned businesses across Stamford, Lorca pushed on and adapted. Now, the doors are open again.
The advantage of owning a small shop is being quick on one’s feet. Lorca loaded up their website (lorcacoffeebar.com), where shoppers could buy its favorite drinks in to-go bottles as well as plenty of other things, too. How about frozen empanadas, lentil soup or lemons—the other foods locals wanted or even needed: butter, milk and hard-to-find yeast. (The shop even had pantry items available on Wednesdays, from 8 a.m. until the items sold out—check for updates online.) It also sells face coverings for adults ($10) and children ($8). While online, shoppers can order gift cards and leave a digital tip for the staff.
