About Time: The Masterwork of Margaret Brassler Kane (1909-2006)
February 11 @ 11:00 am - 4:00 pm
An event every day that begins at 11:00am, repeating until February 19, 2019
With the Great Depression and World War II serving as tumultuous backdrops, Margaret Brassler Kane sought to express, through her sculpture, the watershed cultural, social and political events of the 20th century.
The Society will celebrate the opening of “About Time: The Masterwork of Margaret Brassler Kane (1909-2006)” with a Champagne Reception on Friday, October 19 at 7:30 p.m. in our soaring post and beam exhibit space. Learn the story of this prolific artist, who summered in Darien and whose major work now graces the entrance to the Smithsonian Museum of American Art.
Throughout the exhibit, the Society will host lectures featuring top art historians and also welcome accomplished local artists for a panel discussion focusing on how gender informs and affects the recognition of their work. The exhibit is open during the museum’s open hours. Please check our website for more information.
